First time I witnessed it in the 9 years I’ve been in the city. It was inspiring seeing these people, some of whom with disabilities, push themselves to the limit. Friends who did it, I’m so proud of them. I loved the costumes, the smiles, people slapping hands with total strangers…..great atmosphere. Bands playing on the route. A couple of funny stories:
1) A woman in the race stops, looks at me, and asks me where the Dunkin’ Donuts is. I honestly didn’t know. I was standing in front of a Burger King.
2) Two black dudes in jeans and civilian clothes running, but wasn’t sure if they were in the race or just running down the street.
3) Costumes of guys riding camels, hippies, dudes in mohawks, guys carrying flags. Some of them really made us laugh.
4) The Kenyans/Ethiopians at the head of the race! What unbelievable bodies these guys have. I was in awe watching that pack go by. Truly supreme beings.
5) Runners bending down to slap hands with a little boy standing near me.
